Early Educator Wage Sustainability

Child Care Network serves as the Regional Child Care Coalition Lead and project lead for the Early Educator Wage Sustainability Project in both Region 6 (Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, Shiawassee, St. Clair, and Tuscola) and Region 9 (Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe, and Washtenaw).
Funded through the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP), this statewide pilot supports regional strategies to increase and sustain compensation for early childhood educators, strengthening the child care workforce and expanding access for families.

Please check back for updates in the coming weeks!

Goals of the project:

  • Attract and Retain Talent: The primary goal is to address the fundamental challenge of attracting and retaining skilled early childhood educators by increasing compensation and benefits.

  • Expand Child Care Access: Increasing workforce capacity will create a reliable network of providers and expand access to child care for working families.

  • Economic Benefits: A stable, highly compensated workforce provides significant economic benefits by enabling more parents to participate in the workforce.
